Pick the format and position
Choose a format using {n} for the current page and {total} for the page count — "{n}", "Page {n}", or "Page {n} of {total}" all work. Pick a position: top-left, top-center, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-center, or bottom-right.
Set an optional starting number
By default numbering starts at 1. If your PDF is part of a larger document and the first page should be, say, page 5, set a custom start — the tool offsets all subsequent numbers and the {total} placeholder to match.

What characters can I use in the page-number text?
Latin and accented-Latin characters — the basic Latin and Latin-1 character set (U+0000–U+00FF). That covers English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Turkish, and most other Western European languages. Non-Latin scripts like Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Cyrillic aren't supported in the page-number text yet — the tool will refuse with a clear error rather than silently dropping glyphs. We use standard Helvetica with WinAnsi encoding for now; broader Unicode support is on the roadmap.
Can I make numbering start at a number other than 1?
Yes. Set a custom starting number, and the tool offsets every page. If you start at 5 on a 10-page document, the pages read 5 through 14, and {total} reflects 14 — not 10 — so "Page 5 of 14" appears on page one, not "Page 5 of 10".
What if I have pages I deleted in the editor — are they numbered?
No. The stamper skips any pages you've marked for deletion in the editor, and {total} reflects only the surviving pages. The output never includes deleted pages or numbers them.
