How to use unlock pdf — remove password & restrictions
Open your PDF
Drag and drop your PDF onto the upload area, or click to choose a file. The file stays on your device — there is no server upload.
Enter the password (if asked)
If the PDF needs a password to open, USA Sky PDF shows a prompt — type the password you already know. We never store it. If the PDF only has restriction flags, no prompt appears.
Strip encryption and restrictions
USA Sky PDF decrypts the PDF in your browser, removes the /Encrypt and /Perms entries, and re-saves the document with no password and no restriction flags.
Download the unlocked PDF
Click Download to save the unlocked .pdf to your device. The pages, text, and layout are unchanged — you can open it without a password, print, copy, edit, and annotate freely.
Why use USA Sky PDF
Your file stays on your device
Nothing is uploaded. Decryption runs entirely in your browser with a WASM-free decryption layer. The new file is saved straight to your downloads folder.
Removes password (when you supply it)
If the PDF asks for a password to open, enter it once and the saved copy opens with no password at all.
Removes viewer restrictions
Strips the standard PDF /Perms dictionary that disables Print, Copy, Edit, and Annotate menus in Adobe Reader and other readers.
Free with no signup
No account, no email. There's nothing to upgrade for this tool because nothing leaves your device.
Frequently asked questions
Can you remove a password from a PDF?
Yes — if you know the password. Open the encrypted PDF, type the password when USA Sky PDF prompts you, and the saved copy will open with no password at all. We can NOT recover or crack a password you've forgotten: the PDF's content is genuinely scrambled with a key derived from the password itself, and computing that key without the password is exactly what passwords are designed to prevent. If you've lost the password, you'll need to recover it through whoever sent the file.
What kinds of PDFs does this work on?
Two kinds: (1) PDFs that ask for a password to open — bring the password, and we decrypt and re-save with no password. (2) PDFs that open normally but have restrictions like "Printing: Not Allowed" or Copy/Edit disabled — we strip those flags. Both cases finish in seconds, in your browser.
Do you store my password?
No. The password you type is only held in your browser's memory long enough to decrypt the PDF, then discarded. It never leaves your device, and there is no server-side log.
Is unlocking really free?
Yes. Free with no signup and no per-conversion limit.
Does the file leave my computer?
No. The unlock runs entirely in your browser. USA Sky PDF's servers never see your PDF for this tool.
Will it change the PDF's content?
No. The pages, text, fonts, images, hyperlinks, and form fields are preserved exactly as they appeared in the source. Only the /Encrypt and /Perms entries (the password + restriction flags) are removed.
